Patient Statistics

The number of uninsured in our country is continuing to rise. This is due to the increasing prices of health care, and the decrease of employers covering these costs. 48 million Americans don’t have health insurance and in Wisconsin alone, 5 people die each week because of this.

  • The Chippewa Valley Free Clinic has served 5,600 of these people in need since opening in 1997.
  • These patients have received over 25,000 visits.
  • Roughly 800 individuals are served per year, half of whom view CVFC as a medical home.
  • The uninsured visit the emergency room at twice the rate of the uninsured.
  • It costs $505 to serve one patient for one year.
  • CVFC dispenses $1 million of medications per year at our cost of $100,000. For every $1 donated, $10 of retail medications can be distributed by CVFC.
