Your Questions

What are the clinic hours?

  • The walk-in clinic begins every Tuesday at 3 pm.  As it is on a first-come first-serve basis, 3 pm is the time recommended to arrive to get on a waiting list.  There is no guarantee that if you come you will be seen, as the number of patients varies on a weekly basis. However, if you are unable to be seen, every effort will be made to provide alternate medical care or put you on a priority list for the following Tuesday.
  • The Thursday clinics are available to pre-existing patients by appointment.  The first and third Thursdays of the month are our morning Diabetic Clinics from 9 am to 2 pm. The second and fourth Thursdays of the month are our Follow up Appointment Clinics from 6 pm to 9 pm. Appointments can be made by calling the Clinic at (715)839-8477.

Where are you located?

The clinic address is 421 Graham Avenue.  The Acoustic Café is a good reference point, as the clinic is only one block from it.  If you still need assistance, use an online resource (i.e. mapquest, google directions, etc.) to look up an adequate route.  The clinic’s mailing address is P.O. Box 231, Eau Claire, WI 54702.

What will happen when I come to the Clinic for the first time?

Please see What to expect.

How do I make an appointment?

  • All new patients must be seen by a provider at a Tuesday walk-in clinic, even if only medication refills are needed.
  • If you have been seen before and are requesting a Thursday appointment, please call the clinic:  (715)839-8477

Are there any costs to the patients?
There are no fees for services at the Clinic. Patients who wish to make a contribution may do so voluntarily.

How can I give back?

Donations of any amount are accepted.  Also, check out our Patient Action Center in the waiting room!

How are x-ray and lab services provided?

The two local hospitals, Luther and Sacred Heart, provide these services on a rotating basis as an in-kind contribution to the Clinic.

How are prescription medications provided?

The Clinic stocks the most commonly dispensed medications. CVFC DOES NOT stock narcotics, stimulants, or birth control. Medications not in stock are purchased by the Clinic through a voucher system with local pharmacies or hospitals. Drug samples and free drug programs offered by drug companies are used whenever possible.

Do you have immunizations?

No.  Patients in need of immunizations should call the City/County Health Department:  (715)839-4718.

Do you test for STDs?

No.  Patients in need of STD checks should call the City/County Health Department:  (715)839-4718.

Do you do pregnancy tests?

No.  Patients in need of pregnancy tests should call the City/County Health Department:  (715)839-4718.

Can I get my prescriptions filled?

Patients who need medication must be seen by a provider at CVFC before receiving a prescription through this facility.  This rule applies even if you were just seen by a provider at a different institution.

Can I come in just to pick up medications?

If you have seen a provider at CVFC before, you may come in for medication refills as prescribed during the Tuesday clinic.  Thursday med refill appointments may be available; to schedule one please call the clinic.

If you send me to the ER, is it still free?

No.  CVFC does not have the resources to cover ER expenses.  In some instances, if it is necessary for you to visit the ER and you do not have the funds, a program called Community Care can assist you.  Inquiries should be made at the ER.

If you refer me somewhere, is it still free?

Not necessarily.  Some of our referrals are free of charge whereas some are not. Some provide a free initial visit but charge for any further visits.  It is best to check with our staff and the institution of referral.
